Cancer treatment congress in Copenhagen,
special press briefing

On 7-11 October, 20.000 cancer treatment and cancer care experts as well as medical companies from all over the world gather in Copenhagen for Europe’s largest oncology congress, ESMO.

The global oncology field is growing progressively these years, and the congress title “From disease treatment to patient care” reflects the increasing focus not only on ways to cure cancer, but also on areas regarding the improvement of the general life of cancer patients. In Denmark the government’s launch of the new “Cancer plan 4” is also focusing on the lives of cancer patients.

At the ESMO conference there will be more than 300 speakers this year. There will be an extensive press programme with the expected release of several new studies – these are under embargo until the 7 October.

To brief media on the opportunities at the conference, member of ESMO’s Press and Media Committee, Dr. Stefan Zimmermann from the University Hospital in Lausanne, Switzerland, will speak at a press briefing in Copenhagen on Thursday 15 September presenting top priority areas for the congress as well as brief attendees on the media programme and possibilities for individual interviews.
Ulrik Lassen, Chief physician at the Centre for Oncology Denmark and the Danish representative of the ESMO organization will also speak at the press conference presenting the Danish research field ahead of the congress and answer possible questions.
The briefing takes place on Thursday 15 September from 14.30-15.15 PM at:

Europe’s largest oncology congress held in Copenhagen 2016

This fall Copenhagen will host Europe’s largest oncology congress, ESMO, where the latest cutting-edge and practice-changing oncology research will be presented. As scientists and experts from all over the world are standing in line to present their late-breaking research, ESMO has had an 71% increase in submissions of abstracts for the congress this fall. With this the revealing of quite a huge amount of interesting new research results seems to be inevitable.

ESMO is annual oncology conference held in different European countries each year, and this year with almost 20.000 delegates from all over the world, the congress is breaking records. Never has there been more attending late-breaking abstracts and never has there been as many participants in general.
The congress, which takes an integrated approach to oncology, attracts an international community of experts across a wide range of disciplines all of whom share the common goal of finding the most effective cancer treatments and improving the lives of patients. “From disease treatment to patient care” is the motto of this year’s congress. A topic that has grown tremendously in every field of oncology in Denmark and the rest of the world lately.
Don’t miss out on the opportunity to attend the Congress, which is taking place at the Bella Center in Copenhagen from the 7th to the 11th of October this year.
